Kari Jones was born and raised in Prestonburg, Kentucky. Growing up in a small town in rural Appalachia, she came to embrace senses of familiarity and community. I love, she says, to work where I live and live where I work.
After graduating with a BS in Athletic Training at Eastern Kentucky University, Kari earned an MS in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Kentucky. She practiced in Kentucky and West Virginia before moving to Pittsburgh in 2017.
Kari’s professional interests include nutrition, lifestyle and wellness, childhood development, developmental delay, and autism spectrum disorder. She earned a Certificate of Advanced Training in Obesity Medicine in 2022.
In her free time, Kari loves quilting, cooking, and trail riding with her husband (who’s also from Eastern Kentucky), her kids (Thomas and Delia), and her dog (Merle). She volunteers and subs in her local school district, and at a public garden that provides fresh local produce to food banks in the North Hills.
Kari’s favorite places to “play” in Pittsburgh are the Sewickley Borough Park, various hiking trails and waterways in North Park, and multiple live music venues for concerts with her family.
As a child, Kari carried her Cat in the Hat everywhere, played with her Lite Brite for hours, and listened to her Teddy Ruxpin & Grubby tell stories (like magic!) when she connected them with a cable and put a cassette in Teddy.
