K.G. Pai

MD

Dr. K.G. Pai is the founding father of the Kids Plus practice family. He joined two other pediatricians in private practice in 1972, then formed the Southwestern Pediatric Association in the early 1990s. In the mid 90s, he began to expand the practice by hand-picking pediatricians he’d helped to teach and train. Fifteen years later, Dr. Pai and the rest of his practice family launched Kids Plus Pediatrics.

Dr. Pai graduated from Loyola College, Kasturba Medical College, and Mysore University in India. After an internship at Government Hospital in Madras, India, he came to the U.S. for an internship at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in New York. He completed Pediatric Residencies at New York Medical College and at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, where he is still a Senior Attending Pediatrician.

alto-saxA board-certified pediatrician, Dr. Pai is a Fellow of the the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. In 2015, he was the first-ever  recipient of the Community Education Network Outstanding Preceptor Award at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Pai is married, with three children and three grandchildren. He loves listening to jazz, especially saxophone ballads, playing his own alto saxophone, and getting together with his jazz musician friends. He also enjoys traveling to visit family and friends, and rooting for both the Steelers and the Penguins.

When he was a child, Dr. Pai’s favorite toys were the kites he loved to fly with his cousins. His favorite place to “play” in Pittsburgh is at one of the city’s great jazz clubs.
