Travis Deptola grew up in Indiana, PA, with his two younger sisters. In 3rd grade, his family moved east to Allentown, PA, where they stayed until his freshman year of high school. Deciding they wanted to be closer to extended family again, his family moved back to Homer City, PA, where his parents and grandparents still live today.
Travis began his career as an oil and gas geologist working in Houston, TX. He loved his time in Houston, but decided he needed to make a change after experiencing Hurricane Harvey. At that point, he decided two things: he wanted to be closer to what matters to him most (his family), and he wanted to spend his life directly helping other people, especially those going through difficult circumstances.
Travis moved back to western PA and completed his Physician Assistant degree at Slippery Rock University. He did a clinical rotation with Kids Plus and absolutely loved it. He knew immediately that he wanted to work with children. Travis is especially interested in working with adolescents, those struggling with mental health issues, and LGBTQ+ youth.
In his spare time, Travis enjoys watching football and hockey, playing volleyball, hiking, playing card games and board games, singing along to his favorite music, acting, and enjoying productions at the Benedum Center.
Travis had many favorite toys growing up, but he especially loved LEGOs, Batman action figures, and playing Pokémon on his Gameboy.
Travis lives in South Park with his fiancé. His favorite places to play in Pittsburgh are South Park and Point State Park. He loves walking the trails and playing Pokémon GO — he never outgrew it! — outside with his friends.
